Tunisia, officially the Republic of Tunisia, is a country in the North Africa bordering the Mediterranean Sea and located between Algeria and Libya. It has an area of 163,610 square kilometers. Tunisia has borders with Algeria to the west and southwest, Libya to the southeast, and the Mediterranean Sea to the north and east. Cape Angela which is the northernmost point on the African continent is also the northernmost point of Tunisia. Eastern ends of Tunisia have end of Atlas Mountains and the northern end reaches Sahara Desert. Tunisia was named after its capital city Tunis which is located on its northeast coast. Tunisia became an independent country in 1956.
